Buying your own device

Bringing your own device to campus

If you are bringing your own device into a campus, you may need to have your power cable tested to ensure that it is safe to plug into the mains for charging. Please discuss this with your Personal Academic Tutor (PAT).

Buying your own device

If you will be studying at home, you may need access to a suitable laptop or PC. A smartphone or tablet is handy for doing things like quickly checking emails but these are not appropriate devices for undertaking a programme of study online.

You can check if your device and broadband are suitable by visiting IT equipment for studying at home. As a student you can also access free software downloads at Microsoft Office 365.

Booking a self study space on campus

We have quiet spaces around our campuses for you to study should you require access to IT. Further information about library campus facilities and services is available in the Libraries Guide.

Please visit/contact your campus reception or ask your Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) for more details about your campus if you are unsure.
