What is special about this course?

This new and exciting course, delivered in conjunction with experts from the Hospitality sector has been developed for anyone wishing to embark on a fantastic career in Hospitality.

Designed for the modern work environment, this course will give you an excellent grounding in various hospitality areas, crucial for all hospitality career options. 

As part of the course, you will link up with a Hospitality establishment and work on their premise two days per week, gaining a real insight to the different departments and career opportunities the hospitality sector has to offer.

In just 18 weeks, students will gain a qualification in hospitality services, plus a portfolio of skills endorsed by hospitality employers. 

Students will also be guaranteed an interview with a hospitality employer on successful completion of the course. 

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course but all applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete a short skills-test. 

You will work towards an SCQF level 5 qualification in Hospitality Services and participate weekly in an exciting and lucrative Hospitality placement where you will develop alongside hospitality skills, many transferrable essential and employability skills.

Most of the evidence for the qualification will be provided through visual observations and an understanding of knowledge indicators.

Additionally, you will work towards achieving widely sought-after industry enhancement courses:

  • Elementary Food Hygiene
  • World Host Training in Customer Care

Equipment

This course will require you to have essential equipment/clothing.  If you are under 18, you are entitled to have essential equipment paid for whether you are entitled to Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) or not. 

If you are 18 and over and are eligible for a bursary, these costs will be met through your bursary.  If you are not eligible for a bursary, you will need to fund these items yourself.

How will I study my course?

    You need to commit to four days of blended learning time consisting of timetabled learning, work placement and personal study. Timetabled learning will take place on Wednesday and Thursday. Two days per week will be dedicated to work placement (days and times to be negotiated with your work placement provider).
