What is special about this course?

Do you have an interest in Art and Design? This course offers the opportunity to explore your creative side though a range of specially delivered units of study that prepare you for progression into a creative discipline of your choice. Through studying art and design you have the opportunity to develop an inspirational approach to research, design development and production of final art work.

You will explore sketchbook development, drawing, mixed media, fashion design, garment construction, textiles techniques and surface decoration from interpretation of initial brief through to final realisation and the production of a professional portfolio of your work to present to employers, colleges, university or to set up a creative venture of your own.

You’ll explore a number of creative disciplines, research the work of other artists and undertake projects to express a range of skills, completing final pieces for assessment as you progress.

During your course, we introduce you to using a range of digital technologies, which will help you get the most from your course and at the same time develop your digital skills.  Find out more about key computing skills and essential student skills.

 

Entry requirements

Applicants should have: 

  • A minimum of 2 National awards at SCQF level 4 or equivalent, including a creative subject and/or English. 
  • A portfolio of art or craft work.  
  • An interest in the creative arts or fashion/textile design. 

Mature applicants and early school leavers are very welcome to apply. 

If you don’t meet all entry requirements, your portfolio and previous experience may still qualify you for entry to this course.  

We’ll be inviting you by email to attend course information sessions between now and the start of your course. We’d urge you to come along if at all possible.
