Geography and Continuing Professional Development options
The BA (Hons) Geography degree offers related studies in a recognised core subject. Throughout the course, you’ll get to:
- Exploring the links between physical and human landscapes, from a social science perspective
- Focus on issues such as land use, planning and development, globalisation, climate change, energy, and tourism, in order to examine human relationships with the environment
The knowledge and skills taught in our BA Geography degree are of relevance to many areas of employment, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste management, tourism, rural and community development, agriculture, local government, planning, logistics, and environmental agencies.
Students can also combine their interest in Sustainable Development or Geography with other Humanities subjects in a range of Joint Honours degrees, including Archaeology, Criminology, Culture and Heritage, Gaelic, History, Literature, and Politics.
Our newest offer in the department is the Advanced Higher Geography offered by blended learning through the eSgoil initiative.
Lastly, to aid professional in-workplace training, the department offers a range of short-course CPD learning packages in specific areas of interest to the sector, such as
- Rural Community Development
- Sustainable Resource Management
- Sustainable Development.
