Taster sessions are a great way to find out about a subject area and decide if it’s the right option for you. Each Wednesday we will be opening up the college to welcome everyone to find out more about our courses, meet our staff and see our facilities.

Find out for yourself what life is like as a student and register for a taster session.

In a taster session, you can:
– Spend some time on a course that interests you
– Check out our facilities and meet course tutors
– Speak with our current students to get their honest feedback and advice

Upcoming Taster Sessions:

Wednesday 18th May, from 7.30pm
Jewellery - tour our studio and harness your creative process to create an original design
Gaelic - learn about the fairies, witches, ghosts, the evil eye and the second sight of the Gaelic world with this Intro to Folklore session
Food & Drink - Enjoy tour of our training restaurant and kitchens. You'll also get the opportunity to make an easy dish to take home. This evening you will be cooking - Pesto stuffed chicken thigh with Chorizo, chickpeas and roasted veg and a Chocolate and raspberry roulade.

Thursday 25th May, from 7.30pm
- Engineering - Design a room in CAD and test out our 3D printer
Open Hair Salon - Join our open salon and try a quick hair up tutorial with our staff and students

Wednesday 1st June, from 7.30pm
Gaelic - we are offering two sessions:
      - Gaelic Place Names - discover origins and history behind place names with Dr Anne Frater.
      - Gaelic Literacy, aimed at fluent speakers or advanced learners who wish to improve their Gaelic literacy skills - Does the thought of writing an email, or a report in Gaelic fill you with uncertainty?  This taster session will discuss fundamental spelling rules, how to use grammatical cases correctly and how to use Gaelic in a professional context.
Business Studies - Joins our Business team for some top business tips and communications tools to support your business and learning.

SDS ‘Drop-in’ Sessions - Every Tuesday 9.30am - 12.30 at the Stornoway Campus

Each Tuesday we welcome the local Skills Development Scotland team for drop in sessions to provide careers support to anyone who might need it. The highly skilled SDS team can provide a huge range of information and support on careers, business developmenta dn so much more.
