Starting life at university can be a daunting experience. It may be the first time that you’ve been away from home and we appreciate that your new environment, and in particular your accommodation, play a crucial role in the success and enjoyment of your student experience.

Finding accommodation near your campus means you’ll be able to enjoy immersing yourself in the local community and enjoying all the Outer Hebrides have to offer when it comes to food, adventure and incredible scenery. As a student living on the islands, you’ll get the chance to enjoy the vibrant nightlife and make lifelong friends - all with the Outer Hebrides as your backdrop.

Many of our students already live in the area, so we wanted to ensure that those of you who are coming from further afield would have access to some really first-class accommodation that provides you with all the services and comforts you need, offering a home away from home.

In Stornoway, we have the fantastic Bayhead Bridge Centre, which offers self-catering accommodation. Located on the picturesque waterfront, it’s a great place to be with easy access to the college and town centre, just ten minutes walk away.

The rooms are modern and well equipped with en-suite bathrooms, a study unit and internet access. It’s a bright, contemporary place to relax and socialise with your fellow students. With sports and games facilities available in the centre, including snooker, computer games, and a sports hall, rest assured there is always plenty going on.

Uist Accommodation

Our vibrant North Uist campus allows students to immerse themselves in the historical landscape, embrace local culture and enjoy the islands’ natural beauty. The campus is located close to Lochmaddy ferry terminal and has a wide range of facilities to support students.

There are a variety of different accommodation options in the Uists, ranging from B&B and self-catering in family homes, to house rental.

Benbecula & Barra Accommodation

Our Benbecula campus is located in Lionacleit, at the southern end of Benbecula. Nestled in between North and South Uist, Benbecula is home to sweeping beaches, beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife.

Our Barra campus, the Barra Learning Centre, is conveniently located in Castlebay, the islands main town.
