MSc Sustainable Rural Development

My name is Mairi Telford Jammeh and I live in the south of Scotland. I was interested in studying the MSc in Sustainable Rural Development as I have worked in the field of rural development for a number of years and although semi retired, I still work in this area in a paid and voluntary capacity.

It has been very useful to study current theory and trends in sustainable rural development. I am supporting the development of a nature reserve in community owned land, work part time in a regeneration initiative as well as serving on boards for other charities.

The course has meant I have gained a lot of knowledge into areas such as integrated land use, forestry management and wider rural issues.

I feel lucky to have been offered funding by the Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC) to do the Masters degree or I might just have done a few modules. It has also focused my commitment and I’m now at the stage of doing my research dissertation.
