Advanced Diabetes
I chose the UHI Advanced Diabetes course as the remote and part-time nature of this course allowed flexibility around work and home life commitments. A further reason for choosing this course is that the module provides a comprehensive overview of diabetes care across the life cycle and is specifically for health care professionals.
I thoroughly enjoyed the course and it improved my knowledge of diabetes management which has been helpful for my role as a diabetes specialist dietitian. As the course is aimed at a range of health care professionals it expanded my knowledge beyond my own area of practice which has provided insight into the health journeys of those living with diabetes. The module also encouraged us to consider and reflect on the practical aspects of applying theory to clinical practice.
As a health care professional, we are required to continuously update our knowledge and skills within our area of practice. This course has been a helpful step in further specialising within diabetes care.
