Live event with Prof Frank Rennie & Prof James Hunter
Join Prof Frank Rennie as he discusses his new book, ‘The Changing Outer Hebrides, Galson and the Meaning of Place’
Prof Rennie’s new book is a fascinating and intimate account of the inter-relationship between one small island village in the Hebrides and the wider world.
From the formation of the bedrock 3 billion years ago, to the predictable near-future, the layers of this unique landscape are explored. The social history of the people is closely interwoven with the natural environment in a journey of deep mapping to consider the meaning of special places.
Prof Rennie will be joined by Prof James Hunter for this live online event. They will discuss ‘The Changing Outer Hebrides’ and take questions live from the audience.
The book was published by Acair Books in November 2020 and has already been long listed for the Highland Book Award.
Seonag Mackinnon, chair of the Acair Board said, ‘We are really pleased to be collaborating with UHI to host this event. The conversation between Frank and Jim Hunter will be a great opportunity to explore this many faceted book’.
