Lews Castle College UHI & HebCelt Celebrate Gaelic language and music.

Lews Castle College UHI are again working in partnership with HebCelt, delivering a series of online Gaelic, music and cultural workshop through the 2021 Survival Sessions.

We are delighted to be working together to celebrate the culture and heritage of the Outer Hebrides through our music and Gaelic language. LCC UHI have been delivering Music and Gaelic courses from the Outer Hebrides for decades and their award winning staff have come together to create a unique programme of events for the Survival Sessions.

As part of the 2021 Survival Sessions, LCC UHI have commissioned a series of short instrumental and song workshops, the Atlantic Arc Sessions, highlighting the local, national and European reach of both the Hebcelt festival and Lews Castle College UHI.

Each workshop explores the music from a different Celtic Nation and is delivered by a leading exponent from the tradition.  Lews Castle College have developed world renowned music courses, taught by award winning musicians and lecturers, attracting students from all over the world to study – in the islands and from their own location.  These workshops are named after the title of a module delivered as part of the MA Music and the Environment led by fiddler and lecturer in music - Simon Bradley.

Our hugely popular Gaelic language taster classes also return, where you can work with an expert teacher to learn useful Gaelic phrases and start your Gaelic journey. These courses have been supported by funding from Bòrd na Gàidhlig.

Also supported by Bòrd na Gàidhlig, we also have a series of cultural workshops, taught in Gaelic. Local musicians Kathleen MacInnes and Anna Murray will share their expertise in Gaelic song, while Duncan Sneddon will explore psalm precenting and Magaidh Smith will perform and explain the art of Gaelic storytelling.  These workshops will be taught in Gaelic.

Tha Colaisde a’ Chaisteil UHI air a bhith a’ teagasg chùrsaichean Gàidhlig agus cùrsaichean ciùil fad bhliadhnaichean, agus tha an luchd-teagasg air tighinn còmhla gus sreath sònraichte de thachartasan a chur ri chèile mar phàirt de na Survival Sessions.

Mar phàirt de na Survival Sessions 2021, tha Colaisde a’ Chaisteil UHI air luchd-ciùil agus seinneadairean a choimiseanachadh gus sreath de bhùithtean-obrach goirid, seiseanan Atlantic Arc, a lìbhrigeadh.  Tha iad seo a’ dearbhadh nan ceanglaichean ionadail, nàiseanta agus Eòrpach a tha aig an dà chuid Fèis Cheilteach Innse Gall agus Colaisde a’ Chaisteil UHI.
