Join the Biggest Careers Event Ever Held in the Outer Hebrides

We are marking Scottish Careers Week 2022 with the largest careers event ever held in the Outer Hebrides.

Developing the Young Workforce Outer Hebrides is marking Scottish Careers Week 2022 with the largest careers event ever held in the Outer Hebrides

DYW in partnership with UHI Outer Hebrides and Skills Development Scotland will work with employers from across the islands to hold three careers’ fairs in Stornoway, Castlebay and Lionicleit.

In total the multi-island event will see career opportunities promoted to over 1000 school pupils as well as members of the public, parents, and carers.

Employers from a variety of sectors will promote career options within their organisations and their sector.

There will be a strong focus will be placed on local training, apprenticeship, higher education, and further education routes into employment, demonstrating to young people the wealth of opportunity available on their doorstep.

UHI Outer Hebrides Principal Hannah Ritchie-Muir said, “UHI Outer Hebrides are delighted to be part of these events, celebrating Scottish Careers week as well as profiling the fantastic opportunities we can offer throughout the Outer Hebrides.  We welcome all students and their families to come and join us to find out more about courses, support, and opportunities that we can offer them.”

  • The Stornoway event will be held on 8th November at Stornoway Sports Centre. The public, parents and carers are welcome from 4pm 
  • The Barra event will be held on 9th November at Sgoiltean Bharraigh from 9am.
  • The Lionacleit event will be held on 10th November at Lionacleit Sports Centre from 1pm.
