Join UHI Outer Hebrides and Urras Oighreachd Charlabhaigh for a unique immersion into Gaelic language and culture.

This 5 day residential course will offer people the chance to learn Gaelic and experience local culture in the heart of the Carloway community.

Each day attendees will have the opportunity to learn Gaelic with our lecturers before attending a range of cultural activities. Our lecturers will be delivering 10 x 1.5 hours Gaelic lessons using Speak Gaelic Materials and Urras Oighreachd Charlabhaigh will be providing a programme of cultural experiences and trips, including local history talks, visits to the Carloway Broch and Callanish Stones, workshops in step dancing and psalm singing, and a Halloween-themed evening of local folklore. This is all for only a £10 registration fee.

Accommodation is not included in the costs and students will need to arrange this themselves but advise and support for accommodation can be provided including accommodation in close proximity to the course venue. The Garenin Blackhouses are situation close to Urras Oighreachd Charlabhaigh and students can arrange to stay and immerse themselves in local history - Gearrannan Blackhouse Village - Holiday Accommodation and in the location where recent hit film 'The Road Dance' was filmed.
