Hairdressing Level 5 NQ
What is special about this course?
NQ Hairdressing Level 5 covers the essential skills for someone wishing to develop their skills, with a view to a career in the hairdressing industry. The course is suitable for those seeking a new career change or challenge. Students will gain knowledge and expertise in the basic skills of hairdressing to enable them to progress onto NC Hairdressing Level 5. The course content places an emphasis on the employability skills and attitudes which will help to prepare the candidate for the workplace. Work Experience, where possible, will be undertaken with local salons.
Entry requirements
- Completion of Level 4 Hair and Beauty and successful interview process.
- Ability to work at SCQF 5 is essential.
- Relevant industry work experience is also desirable.

- Selection by interview and assessment.
- Completion of Level 4 Hair and Beauty and successful interview process.
All applicants need to demonstrate a genuine interest in the hairdressing industry, will need to be an effective communicator with clients and colleagues alike, have artistic flair and ability, excellent personal presentation, physical stamina and a high level of manual dexterity as well as demonstrating competent employability skills.
The selection process consists of the submission of a folio prior to a personal interview and practical assessment. References will be obtained for all potential students.

- Blow Drying Techniques
- Mix, Apply and Remove Colour
- Setting and Winding Techniques for Hair.
- Skills for Work
Core skills will be included within the course programme.
